KWV Perold Tributum 2013

£30.00

This elegant and distinguished Cape Blend shows layers of candy floss, cherries and plums with hints of white pepper on the nose. On the palate the structure of silky, smooth  tannins can be attributed to the great balance between fruit and oak integration.  The finish is focused and lingers to a velvety conclusion.

This wine can be savoured on its own or with a variety of slow roasted meats such as lamb or venison, South African potjies (stews cooked on open fire) or Cape Malay curries.

Description

Wine of Origin:

Coastal Region

Components

39% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Pinotage, 17% Shiraz, 10% Malbec

Vineyards:

75% Stellenbosch, 17% Swartland, 8% Darling

Vintage conditions:

The winter preceding the 2013 vintage was characterised by plenty of cold spells and good saturating rains ensuring good soil condition. With the arrival of spring, cool and moderate temperatures encouraged higher quality grapes. The summers dry weather support a slower growth and kept diseases at bay. Overall, the season delivered fruit with structure and flavour.

Winemaking:

This wine is a blend of varieties from regions and sites that have consistently produced wines of outstanding quality and style. In making the Perold Tributum we have set out to produce a wine that over time will become recognized as the benchmark for ultra-premium wine in South Africa.

Maturation:

A 90% portion of the wine was matured in French oak barrels and 10% in American oak, for 18 months. A total 70% of the barrels were first-fill.

Total production:

3200L

Bottling date:

January 2015
