An intense fruit packed wine with a smorgasbord of red and black summer berries, savoury spice and toasty wood flavours. The wine has fine bright tannins. It has a long fresh finish.
Great with baked pasta dishes but can also take a little warmth like Indian curries.
The grapes for this wine have been harvested from Southern Cross farm in Simondium, Kasteelsig in Malmesbury, Devon Rocks in Stellenbosch and Leeuwenkuil on the Agter Paarl/ Swartland border.
The bulk of the Pinotage was destalked and fermented in tanks with various staves. Malolactic and maturation was completed on staves. Approx. 20% of the wine was fermented in small open fermenters and matured in small French and American oak barrel. The wine was finished by blending 10% Shiraz.
